Arts and Crafts - creativity at it’s best
Devon is famous for its arts and crafts. We love them.
There are superb places to see them and buy them in Dartmouth and locally, so we wanted to make reference to them here. Browse and be stunned at the creativity and quality of their work and maybe find something beautiful to take home.
Art Galleries in Dartmouth
A lovely eclectic mix of galleries are scattered across the town. We haven't space to list many of them, so we have picked out some of our favourites. Take some time and explore these and more. There are over a dozen to enjoy.
• Bert and Buoy is a stunning contemporary shop selling gorgeous silk screen prints and a range of homewares with very original nautical inspired designs. This is a new addition to the town and is fabulously original and contemporary. Links to the TV potter Keith Brymer-Jones
• The Simon Drew gallery brings humour to pen and ink drawing with an emphasis onwildlife - utterly original. You’ll have to leave with a card or two at least !
• D'art Gallery we love for the regularly updating hand-picked collection of fine art andprints, often depicting the local area. Inspirational. Beautiful.
• Coombe Gallery along Foss Street brings a wonderful mix of art and studio crafts
• Paul Barclay Designs is a unique style which brings pen drawings of yachts inparticular to both paper and also branded clothing and housewares. Local at its best.
• Triton Galleries bring fine art to Dartmouth with great impact. Located on Foss Streetnow, you will find dramatic and fine art here. • Rowbury Gallery is lovely. We especially like the Becky Bettesworth prints here Crafts that will show creativity and form at its very best
• The Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Bovey Tracy, is we think the finest craft gallery you willfind more or less anywhere. Visit here on your way up onto Dartmoor. A huge number of outstanding craftsmen and women are represented in the shop and there is always aninteresting exhibition. Fine cafe too.
