A warm welcome to your dog

Dartmouth and Harbour Heights are very dog friendly.

We at Harbour Heights are able to welcome up to 2 small/medium sized dogs (this is what we consider appropriate for the size of the house and garden).

Whether it is direct access to the coastal path, enjoyment of local beaches, walking round town or eating out, here we pass on our comments for our furry friends enjoyment.

Dogfriendly beaches

Almost all beaches allow dogs in the winter months. Some allow dogs all year (all thecoves on Dartmouth do as does South Milton Sands and Slapton Sands) and many however do not allow dogs at all in the main season from April to September. We think this very balanced and means that everyone, dog owner or not can be happy.

Dogfriendly place to eat

There are many places that allow dogs in the evening. Dart Marina for example will allowyou and your dog in their lounge area, The Floating Bridge Inn in their bar area, Bayard's Cove Inn allows dogs as does The Cherub and Dartmouth Arms. As it is a dog friendly place in South Devon, we recommend your do ring and ask in advance as many places are very happy to welcome you and your dog. Locally Cafe Al Fresco is a great place tohave breakfast and your dog is likely to receive a biscuit or sausage too if they are good !

Dogfriendly shopping

Unlike most towns, almost all the shops in Dartmouth will welcome you and your wellbehaved dog. This is part of the charm of the town as it demonstrates the relaxed andwelcoming attitude of the people running the shops. Some Deli’s or food shops may notbe able to allow dogs, but most of the other shops will.

Dogfriendly trips and outings

Boat trips are for dogs too ! The Castle Ferry, Dartmouth Ferry, Paddlesteamer, Dittisham Ferry, Greenway Ferry and the historic lower ferry will all be just as enjoyable for your dogas they will you.
